Stern back to Terrestrial?

Post by hitzmaker » Tue Dec 29, 2009 6:17 pm

Heard a rumor that Stern is going to move back to terrestrial after his contract runs through with Sirius. Is there any truth to this? Is it even possible that he could do this after all the changes his show has gone through?

It is absolutely possible. The reason is simple, because Howard Stern is a Pioneer. He was responsible for change radio. Since we live in an age of technological change, he will be able to harness that change, and format his show on FM in a way that no other host has been able to do. It may take time for him to re-image the show, but i feel that it is possible.

Whoever thinks Howard Stern is coming back to terrestrial radio is dreaming and obviously doesn't listen to him on Sirius-XM. Howard has said repeatedly that he has NO interest in coming back to a medium that would have to censor his material. In addition, he has made it clear that he wants to work even less than his current 4 days/week, 42 weeks/year schedule, and that may be a problem, not to mention money.

The most likely outcome is that Howard will remain at Sirius and work an even lighter schedule, which will be a challenge. Three days a week is hard to imagine for radio, but perhaps they'll find a way. Another less likely outcome is Howard going to Podcasts/internet delivery, but at 55 one wonders whether Howard wants to start all over again. And the final possibility is Howard simply retiring.

Those who know his show and his mentality find it hard to imagine him just sitting around playing chess. More than likely he'll sign for three more years at Sirius for a lighter schedule and possibly less money, as Sirius is not in the position of being able to lay out the money it did before and really doesn't have to. Howard's options are limited, other than terrestrial, and that is the longest of long shots. He knows that, as does Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin.

It looks like Howard Stern has his guys come in under various names to float his name in any kind of Forum. This was a pre phoney American Idol Story. Few care about Howard Stern anymore, he's gotten boring! STONE & Digital Dave have already exposed him as getting soft and reported long ago the American Idol judge inquiry was all phoney.. Go Jay Leno Go!!v=g95GjIiK5zo

Nice try Buffalo Tom.
